In the wide world of fashion, the choice of material is as crucial as the design of the final product itself. Especially since the production of a fashion collection's materials accounts for 60 to 80% of its total environmental impact!
Companies are then faced with the challenging task of finding the right quality materials, according to the design team's brief, at a price that matches their budget. That's where Adapta comes in, with our customized sourcing solution.
Our aim is to make life easier for brands by sourcing leathers from dead stock to suit their specific needs. By focusing on sustainability and quality, we also help preserve our planet's precious resources. But that's not all. What sets us apart even more is our ability to offer these leathers in very large quantities, enabling production to integrate seasonal collections, without compromising product quality or integrity.
Let's discover together how our company reinvents desirable sustainable sourcing, one piece of leather at a time, while offering solutions tailored to the production requirements of established brands.
The step-by-step process:
1. Meeting up
We meet with the design, product development and/or supply chain teams to fully understand the brand's process and requirements.
At this point, our expertise lies in successfully integrating the dead stock reuse process into the company's existing process.
For example, if the brand buys a finished product, it can be the prescriptor for the choice of material from its manufacturer. So it's the manufacturer, whom we try to integrate from the outset of the collaboration, who will place the order directly with Adapta.
2. Briefing
Next, the brand sends us a detailed brief outlining the range of colors and/or materials they're looking for in their next project.
Whether for ready-to-wear, accessories (bags, shoes, jewelry, hats, etc.) or interior design, our team is ready to take up the challenge!
3. Connecting with suppliers
We then start searching through our trusted partners (luxury houses, manufacturers or tanners), looking for the leather that will most closely match the brief.
It's a meticulous job of matching the brand's universe with the existing offer in dead stock. Each option is carefully examined, taking into account factors such as quantity, quality, texture and color.
Our relationship with these suppliers enables us to negotiate the best deals, guaranteeing our customers excellent value for money.
4. Tailor-made offer
Once we've put together a selection of potential leathers, we come back to the brand with several possibilities. Creativity is born from constraint: sometimes unexpected leathers are selected!
Our aim is simple: to offer the best possible leathers, precisely suited to our customers' needs.
The price is 30 to 70% lower than the original price, to ensure profitability for brands that don't usually have access to these exceptional materials.
5. Prototype and material reservation
Once a leather has been chosen, the brand must quickly order at least one hide for the prototype.
During the prototype validation phase, we reserve all the necessary skins for the project for one month. This guarantee allows the customer to secure stock and ensure continuity of production once the prototype has been approved (or not).
6. Direct delivery to the manufacturer
Once the prototype has been validated, the brand places its final production order. We then send the leathers directly to the manufacturer.
7. Communication
If necessary, we then support the brand in its communication, both internally (sales training, data for extra-financial reports) and externally, on the use of dead stock and the re-use approach.
At Adapta, we're determined to change the niche into the norm: choosing first and foremost to reuse materials! We make reuse accessible and attractive in corporate leather sourcing. Our customized sourcing solution not only offers a selection of top-quality leathers, but also in large quantities to produce a collection.
